Daniel Small, b. abt 1772, Virginia;  m. Mary Polly Hutchings  27 Nov 1797 in Nashville, Davidson
                       Co., Tennessee.
  son, Andrew Jackson Small, b. 1798, Nashvillle, Davidson Co., TN; m. Mary Polly Seago abt
                        1824 in Henderson Co., TN
  son, John W. Small, b. 07 Sep 1841, Henderson Co., TN;  m. Sarah E. Margaret Lovell
                        10 Aug 1887 in Carroll Co., TN
  son, Hugh Lawson Small, b. 29 May 1878, Hare's Mill, 8 mi e of Lexington, Henderson Co., TN;
                         m. Elizabeth Ruth Barrett on 22 Oct 1903, Lawton, Comanche Co., Oklahoma.

FTDNA testing shows at 67 markers with 0 difference that Daniel's line is from the Quakers John Small and wife Alce Hollowell.  I believe that  if we can document his father and grandfather, they  will link to a known descendant of John and Alce's.  Daniel's father may have been a Matthew Small of Virginia.  Daniel was a 10 year old boy with the Col. John Donelson 1779 flotilla group who eventually founded Nashville. Here's hoping that DNA testing will lead to a solution to our "brickwall".
