I am searching for any information on a Murphy Potter who resided in or near Shell Creek, Carter County, TN, (Elizabethton, Johnson City area of NE TN) around 1909 to 1913. I have the following information which may or may not be accurate:Murphy Potter was a farmer, and/or school teacher, and/or school principal in Carter County, TN. His name is listed as the father on the birth certificate of my father, Ellis Oakes, dob 9/29/1911, mother Irene Oaks, place of birth, Shell Creek, Carter County school district 16, Carter County, TN.Any information would be appreciated.
