I am Maria, Portuguese and one of my middle names is Mendes.Believing this is a Jewish name and having a genealogical family tree that goes to XVIIth century, just was curious to confirm those Jewish roots I feel I have.I?ve read, a long time ago, Cecil Roth?s book " A short History of Jewish People" and was so excited by it that his owner gave it to me.
How can achieve a real answer for this question of mine?
