I had my mtDNA tested at FTDNA, they designated my Haplogroup U5b2a2, I joined the U5b FMS mtDNA Group, and the administrator designated me as U5b2a2c, which was confirmed by Ian Logan and uploaded to GEDbank. FTDNA are way behind and refuse to recognize it as yet.
I have no mtDNA Matches on FTDNA other than my son, my daughters haven't tested, but they would match anyway. I had hoped for Matches that would link me to other family members on the maternal line.
My earliest known mitochondrial ancestor is Jane Johnston born 1798, died 1824 age 26, she is my 4th great grandmother, married to a Peter Mallaby in Masham, Yorkshire.
