The earliest ancestor I have found came from North Wiltshire int the 18c. The line moved via Bristol to Monmouthshire, where it stayed until the present. As part of an attempt to break through the 18c brickwall I have, over the past 8 years, compiled a Stratton Index (mainly UK records) which currently contains around 70,000 BMD 'events'. Many of the entries have been linked into trees and I always welcome contact from other Stratton researchers for data exchange. Geoff Stratton
