I have been working with a ninth cousin with the same surname on our family tree. We both did our research independently with virtually no help from each other. We both independently traced? our most recent common ancestor to John Cole,"the carpenter", one of the early settlers of Hartford, Connecticut (coming over from England in the 1600's).

Just recently we both decided to have a 12 marker DNA test done through the National Geographic "Genographic" Project.

Our tests came back and we have a 12 marker perfect match. We are both in Haplogroup I.?

Two Questions....

What other things can we deduce from this 12 marker match?

Is a ninth cousin, same surname, perfect match quite rare or nothing to get excited about?
