I have quite of bit of info on the Tompkins families in the province of Ontario, Canada.? Unfortunately, not a lot on my family.

I am hoping to connect my line to the other families in the region.? Your help would be welcome & appreciated.

These are not names that I have run across in my searches.  Most of the Tompkins arrived much earlier, in the late 1700's as loyalists.
Which area of Ontario did they settle?  You should be able to find them in the 1881, 1891 and/or 1901 census of Ontario.  Some of these are available on-line, free.

See: http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/index.html
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp

A quick search of the 1881 & 1901 census did not turn up any of the fellows that you mentioned, nor did a couple of other Ontario sites.

Sorry.

DNA results show that I am connected to the family of JA Tompkins, Ontario. My line started in Westchester NY, it is said that Abraham was a loyalist and sent to Canada. I descend from his son John and his first wife Tamar Shute>William Shute>William Edgar>William Shute>Gilbert J Tompkins, my father. This family lived in Ossining, Greenburg, Scarsdale, then finally to Brooklyn NY. Any others out there?

I have been researching every line, trying to piece together each and every strand, but most I have found aren't in Canada. My line descends from the Irish Tomkins of Londonderry, Ireland and came over in about 1846. I have do a couple of Williams (showng no wife or children) born 1817, if that is any help. Could you possibly tell me his parents or wife?

Thanks,
Peter

Hello everyone... I'm sure in one way or another we are all related :) I have just begun to search my father's family history, Harold Powell Tompkins (08/1940-04/1997). I do know many of the family members were from Ossining, NY.  My Grandfather, Russell Dudley Tompkins, Sr. lived in Schultzville, NY.  I'm starting there.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated to this beginner.

Thank you in advance!

Through DNA testing I have found several Ontario, Canada Tompkins close matches.  My first known ancestor is Fortunatus Tompkins b. 1759, d. cir. 1850 in Triangle, Broome County, NY.  He is first found in the 1790 census for Coxsackie, Albany County, NY.  I do not know where Fortunatus was born or who his parents or siblings are.  I have no information on family migrating to Canada early on, but obviously some very close family did.  The known migration for my Tompkins was Albany County-Delaware-Chemung-Broome-Steuben to Allegany County, NY.

I am searching for family of my biological father ALBERT CHARLES TOMPKINS born April 8, 1926 who passed away from a brain tumor October 5, 1957. He is buried in Mount Hope Cemetary in Brighton, Ontario. My biological mother Jessie May (Tompkins nee Hunter) raised my brother and I as a single parent until she remarried in 1964. At that time we were legally adopted by our biological mother and her husband through CAS.  Our bio mother would never discuss the past and now has dementia so she is unable to share whatever memories she kept secret. I was born October 2, 1954 named Sandra Lynn Tompkins and my brother was born December 23, 1955 named Steven John Tompkins. I have been searching for information and a connection to my biological family for many years without success. ALBERT CHARLES TOMPKINS was born in Frankford, Ontario. I know he had siblings and his family was originally from the Belleville/Trenton/Ameliasburg area. The funeral home in Brighton burned down decades ago and all records were destroyed. Mount Hope Cemetery in Brighton where he rests has no record other than my mothers’ name as next of kin. I know this is a long shot but I would appreciate any information that might lead me to finding aunts, uncles, cousins - any members of my biological family who can share some history and help answer so many unanswered questions.  I realize my search is different than other adult children who are seeking to find their birth parents.  We were fortunate to know our biological Mother but following our biological father's passing his family had nothing do with us.  My bio Mother was also estranged from her late sister (our aunt) who told my brother decades ago "One day we will know the truth".    I've been able to source some information from my biological father's 1957 obituary amongst papers my brother had as well as census research. His Father's name was Albert Knight Tompkins ( born August 3, 1900 - deceased in the 70's and resting in Frankford Cemetary). His Mother was Annie Hildred McGeachie (nee Wessels – born April 9, 1901 and deceased April 10, 1957). My father had siblings - Harold in Barrie, Ernest in Oshawa and Robert either in Belleville or Kingston. He also had a sister Gloria Jean McGeachie of Trenton. Apparently my father served in the Medical Section of the RCAF during WWII in Goose Bay, St. Hubert (Quebec) and Trenton. At the time of his death in 1957 he was employed by CNR in the signal dept. Also mentioned in the obituary - he was a member of BRS of A #124 in Belleville. I've searched 411 for phone numbers of his siblings (who are probably in their 80's now if they are still alive) without success. I’ve also searched Facebook for potential TOMPKINS relatives with no response.
Through internet research of the 1901 and 1911 census’ I have acquired family history dating back to 1833 but my goal, my desire, my hope is to move forward to find living relatives of my late biological father. I am hoping someone with knowledge of this TOMPKINS FAMILY TREE will read this lengthy message and have some answers that might lead me in the right direction.
This is the information I have been able to find in my search though WorldFamilies.net .  I am hoping someone will recognize these names from their family tree information...

Have you run these names in the 1940 census which is now available to the public?  Could give you a lot of information.  Also, city directories.
