Each of the Haplogroup designations in the subject line refer to the same Haplogroup with the last one a Geno 2.0 designation for the most ancient.

My Bowen family is from Carmarthenshire and Glamorganshire, Wales.  I have been unable to tie to the Pembrokeshire or other Bowen / Ab Owein / Ap Owein familes and certainly not to the suspected Roman conscripts from Thrace / Mesopotamia as conjectured.

This thread is an attempt to try to get those connections.

I got my results back from the Geno2 project about a week ago and my Y-Chromo haplogroup was identified as E-PF2217, which is derived from V13.  I just applied for a second test with familyfindersDNA.  My last name is Scull, a name most common in the west of England near Bristol.  My original paternal ancestor to come to cross the ocean did so in 1682.  Since E-PF2217 is most common in Greece and Albania (if I understand my Geno2 results correctly) my thoughts are that our common ancestor could have been a Greek who migrated to Apollonia or  Epidamus, but it could just have likely been an Illyrian who came to Greece during the Macedonian period if not earlier.  Once the Romans conquered everything the possiblities of greater distribution are endless.  What have you learned about E-PF2217 so far?  Do you have any sources you would recommend?

Hi Chronicle -  Dunno about E-PF2217 other than it is probably the terminal SNP for your E-V13.  Here's the closest I could see on ISOGG:    •    E1b1b1a1b   L142.1, L542/PF2220, PF2211/V13, PF2210/V36,   (http://www.isogg.org/tree/ISOGG_HapgrpE.html)/

Interesting to see E-V13 in Bristol - not far from Wales.
