He served as a seaman second class in the Navy aboard the USS Monterey and the USS Langley during World War II.He was awarded the Purple Heart.

His wife,Margaret Haplin Fields,died in 1990.

Services for William H. Fields II, a security worker for Niagara Towers, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.

Fields, 83, of Cedar Avenue, died Monday (Dec. 25, 1995) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born in Oldes, Va., and lived in Niagara Falls for many years.

Fields was employed as a heavy-equipment operator for Great Lakes Carbon prior to his retirement in 1972. For the past 15 years, he had worked in security for Niagara Towers.

His wife, Clara Simpson Fields, died in 1977.

Survivors include a son, William H. III; two daughters, Sandra Marchetti of Buffalo and Alma J. Rowles; two sisters, Rose Sams and Alice Adolph; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. {Milleville}.
