This is an update of the August, 11, 2007, Pedigree posted by William Edgar Bird (me).

The following pedigree data was accepted by Steven Bird in an email dated November 3, 2007. At that time, he had the pedigree posted to my name in the then existing Lineage Patriarch pages.

During 2010, the supporting data Steve had reviewed, plus additional source material discovered after Steve's review, was investigated by The East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS). The result was that on December 9, 2010, ETHS and the State of Tennessee conferred membership in the First Families of Tennessee to me. My ETHS and State of Tennessee Certificate identifies me as member #14,946.

Based on ETHS' investigation and acceptance of my source material, they declared me to be a direct descendant of John Byrd/Bird. John (Carter) Byrd/Bird was the 2nd son/child of Colonel William Evelyn Byrd III of Westover Manor, Virginia, and his 1st wife, Elizabeth Hill Byrd (Carter) of Shirley Plantation, Virginia. My source material can be reviewed at the Calvin M. McClung Historical Collection, 601 S. Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902.

Since I am a member of the Haplogroup subclade G2a3b1a2*, all of my direct male ancestors on the following pedigree are members of that subclade. There are currently 66 DNA tested males, worldwide, in this very rare subclade. International Society of Genetic Genealogists (ISOGG) have estimated the subclade to have been created by a single mutating male in Britain in the last 1500+/- years. That was before surnames came into use. There are 37 different surnames, "mostly Welsh", in the current G2a3b1a2* subclade membership list of 66. Broxton Manor was located approximately five miles East of today's Northern Wales and ten miles South of Chester, the anciant Roman City of Deva. Four subclade members are surnamed Bird.
