We are constantly working to improve the quality of the results at our Search feature and realize that it is not perfect.? One of our challenges is to keep up to date with the new projects constantly being created.? Another is to list the projects which are being conducted at the various testing companies.? If your project is not listed correctly, or is missing from the Search results, you can let us know by posting a reply on this Thread.? ?

Basic arrangement:

 - We'll include a reasonable number of variant spellings in the search database and point each of them to your project.

 - We only list projects in the "World Families Network column" when we are providing a website for that project.

 - Surname ranks are from the 1990 census.? Please don't ask us to change them.

 - FTDNA projects are all pointed to their FTDNA landing page.? (Please list your project site url there instead of asking us to do it at the Search)

 - RG &? DNAH projects (and other testing companies which don't provide a landing page) should provide their project surname, variants and the url of their site

Mary - It's done.  Sorry - the multiple names in your id throws us off.  BTW - all of our links to FTDNA go to the Landing page - which then allows your searcher to click on your public site at FTDNA.  Terry

When a search is done for the Winslow surname the results show that FTDNA has a Winslow project. However, the only active Winslow Y-DNA surname project is at Winslow Genealogy? (http://mysite.verizon.net/res1nx2p) and the testing lab is Relative Genetics. Is there something that can be done to correct this so Winslow visitors to your site will not be confused?

Thank you,
Stephen Winslow

Hi Stephen.  I added your project to the Search database.  There is also a project at FTDNA, which we manage.  Whiile it currently has no members, it will allow anyone who transfers into FTDNA from the National Geographic project a project to join.  It also provides a project home for anyone who decides to join at FTDNA for whatever reason.  We will share any data that comes to the FTDNA project for Winslow with projects at Relative Genetics, DNA Heritage or other testing companies.

Good luck with your project.  Terry

Hi Terry. We've talked about my Southworth-Southard project which you will be co-administering with me. I notice in the results page for a Southworth search that you list a different project. Can you change this reference to my site, which has Southworth as its primary focus, at FTDNA (and of course include it as a WFN site) and/or my http://home.bellsouth.net/p/pwp-WordenDNA. Also, you don't list Southard at all and, again, that is the secondary focus of my project. Thanks very much.

Hi Terry.
May I add some surname spellings to my Southworth website, please? Is there a way I can do this myself? Or do you pick them up from the Familytreedna site? Or do you have to add them manually? For now, I especially want to include the name SUTHERS because I have a potential candidate in England by that name, and I want him to feel welcome. <g>

Thanks,
Doris

Hello Terry:

I searched for the Boyd project and surprisingly brought up 2 results... there is only 1 project.

The first link brought me to http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=D84650&special=True

Surnames in Project:

Lestrange, L'Estrange, Strang, Strange, Strong, Stronge

I could see nothing on this page that relates to Boyds, nor makes mention of the surname.

The second link brought me to http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=Y92067&special=True
Which IS the Boyd project.

Thanks in advance for getting this remedied.

Please can you add an entry to your project index for the Kennedy DNA project run in conjunction with the Kennedy One-Name study. It is hosted at DNA Heritage and its url is

http://www.kennedydna.com

Many thanks

A search for the Dowell sirname only brings up McDowell.  Originally Dowells started out as a part of the McDowell project but we have been a separate project now for a couple of years.  Our project includes both Dowell and Dewell members.

Regarding the last 3 requests:

1. I can't duplicate the Boyd problem - so one of my staff must have already fixed it

2. I see that a search for Kennedy does now bring up the kennedydna site - so a staff member must have also dealt with that request

3. I corrected Dowell to reflect the split from McDowell and the fact that it is its own project

Just wanted to let you know that we have merged the Greathouse project at FTDNA, so you can do away with the project link which points to

Hi Terry

Could you add the Muckian DNA project at http://www.muckian-dna.com to the database?
At present, this forwards automatically to my FTDNA project page, but I plan to expand it into a more comprehensive landing page.

Many thanks

Hi Michael.  In order to minimize our broken urls, we send the searcher to the FTDNA landing page - where you can then send folks on to your private url

http://www.familytreedna.com/DNAList.asp?Group=Muckian

You are now included in our search

I would be most grateful if you could include my CRUWYS/CRUSE/CREWES DNA project in your searches. The URL is:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/CruwysDNA

Other variant spellings included in the project include: CREWS, CREWSE, CRUISE and CRUZE.

Many thanks

Terry,
I'm a newbe. I'm confused about what your site is and how it works but it seems like it may be useful. I have my yDNA (male surname: Arens; 1749 Reckange-sur-Mess, Luxembourg to 1937 Nobles Co., MN, USA ) and my Sister's mtDNA (female surname line; Kahn>Maringer>Benoit>Rollinger>Weber>Remackel>Arens - 17?? Rollingergrund, Luxembourg to 1956 Mankato, MN USA) on the SMGF site: http://www.smgf.org/. The mtDNA Remackel and Arens are not searchable at SMGF because they were born after 1900 and I don't know why Maringer and Kahn do not give the result. My home page is: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/a/r/e/Bob--Arens/

My Arens yDNA is on your Aaron pedigree. My sister's mtDNA is not on your site that I can determine.

Will you please add our DNA Surname Project for both the HARTRUM and HOTRUM surnames.  Testing is currently being done by FT-DNA.
We have our own web site at:  http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hotrum/dna.htm

Thanks for your help.

Hi Dave.  We added the two surnames to our database and the project to our search.  We send searchers to the FTDNA order page and they can then click through to your dedicated project site.  WE have found we have too many broken links when we use the dedicated sites - as they chenge too often

Good luck with your research.

Hi

There is now a project at FTDNA for the PARRY surname, which also includes the PARREY variant ( https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=C11675&special=true )

However, searching for Parry on your site currently finds the Perry project (https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=P23778&special=True ).

Would it be possible to change the link, please.

Thanks
Barbara

Hi Barbara.  When you search for Parry or Parrey, you now find the new Parry Surname Project:
