We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for the Atwood Family Project Patriarch page. (You don’t have to be a test participant to post your family pedigree.)  

There are two ways to make your pedigree available to the project administrator for posting on the Patriarch Page:
1.  Send the pedigree by email directly to carrie@worldfamilies.net in the simplified form described below  (If you send it this way, your pedigree will only be posted on the Patriarch Page, and will not be included in the Pedigree Forum)
Be sure to include  
                 Email address you wish to be posted with the pedigree
                 Kit number of the project participant whose pedigree this is
                 Name, birthdate, birthplace, spouse for each generation (direct  male line).

2.  Log-in to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum.  By posting your pedigree on the forum, you are making it available for the Project Administrator to post it on the Patriarch Page, along with your contact information, and kit number (or code identity number).

4. The pedigree for a Surname Project follows your paternal line.  Please post only the information for each generation:

Suggestions for Posting your Pedigree on this forum:

o        Post four pieces of information for each ancestor

o        Begin with the earliest generation

o        Use standard abbreviations:  m=married, b=born, d=died, c=circa, Co=county, VA=Virginia, GA=Georgia, etc

o        Try to keep to one line per generation

o        Include only generations that have this family surname

o        Provide your name and email address as the pedigree provider

o        Provide the kit number and/or project code identity number if pedigree is for a tested participant

o        Use surname with each generation

o        Don’t use all caps

Peter de Wyckhurst purchased estate in Coulsdon, Surrey, England in 1208. This estate was still in the family circa 1600.

In 1278 William Atte Wode of Coulsden, Surrey signed a surety bond. He owned the estate purchased by Peter de Wyckhurst in 1208.  William was likely a grandson (or great-grandson) of Peter. He died between 1278-1279.

In 1279 Peter Atte Wode with wife Alice owned Wood Place a manor in Coulsdon. This manor was described later as originally purchased by Peter de Wyckhurst in 1208. Peter probably died between 1313-1318.

William Atte Wode, with wife Juliana mentioned in 1318. By 1341 Sir William was Captain of the King's Guard. William is believed to have died about 1345 fighting against the French.

In 1346 Geoffrey Atte Wode is mentioned as owning Hooley House, Coulsden, original property of Peter de Wyckhurst. It is believed that Geoffrey died in 1346 at the battle of Crecy, France.

Peter Atte Wode with wife Lawrencia mentioned in rolls between 1356-1369. He died at Coulsden, Surrey, England on 30 NOV 1382.

Peter Atte Wode, born circa 1380, M.P. in 1384. Wife Petronilla. He died aft 1436.

John Atte Wode, M.P. mentioned 1433-55. wife Isabella, died after 1459 in Sanderstead, Surrey, England

Thomas Wood alias Atwood Sergeant in 1486, King's Sergeant in 1488.

John Wood alias At Wode, Keeper of the King's Hawks in 1520. died 30 JUL 1525 at Sanderstead. Wife Diones. John's will mentioned four sons named John (John the elder, John the younger, John "Hewson", and John alias Richard) besides sons Henry, Edward, Thomas & Nicholas.

John "Hewson" Wood alias Atwood lived at St. Martin's of the Fields, London, where he died 19 MAR 1562. He married Margaret (poss. Grenville).

Nicholas Wood born about 1539 Sanderstead, married at st. Martin's of the Fields, London 30 JAN 1569[/70] to Olive Harman. Nicholas was buried at St. Martin's of the Fields 12 MAY 1586. Nicholas had two sons named John, baptized Johannes & Johanem, as well as other sons.

John (Johanem) Wood alias Atwood bp 4 FEB 1582/3 Sanderstead. He married at St. Martin's of the Fields, London 25 JUL 1612 to Joan Coleson.

Several of his sons came to New England including Harman (at Boston); John (at Plymouth); Henry (at Middleborough) and Stephen (at Eastham)
