My Britains(AKA Britton/Brittain etc..) are not colonial. But I wanted to include them just in case. It is possible that my Britains came with the Ulster Scots that immigrated to Canada in the early 1800's. They are not Irish.

2. John Jr. Britain B 1777 of Dumfireshire,Scotland married Alicia Orr B 1781 D 26 Jan 1857 daughter of Capt. James Orr & Elizabeth Alexander. Alicia married John without parental consent.
3. Rebecca Britain B 1806 Ballyshannon,Ireland D 5 Mar 1870 married Capt. Thomas Smith D 22 Aug 1830 was lost at sea off the coast of Mantanzas Cuba in his ship the Brigg Patriot.

Looking for information on the following Britton:

Charles Britton, b.1848 France (although some Census records fluctuate between 1846 and 1848), both parents born in France, immigrated to US (1850).

1871 -- m. Mary Ann Sautter (b. 1852, Canada), both parents born in Ireland.

The two had their first first child, William Henry Britton in 1881 in Lee Center, NY, USA.

I know about their descendants, but where does Charles fit in with the pedigrees on this website?

John Britton Sr. was born abt. 1735 and died in Bertie, NC in 1803.  I have his will on file. He had a son named Benjamin who was born abt. 1761. Benjamin had a son named Anthony who was born abt. 1800 . Anthony had a son named George W. Britton who was born in 1821 in Hertford, NC. George W. Britton had a son named Marcus who was born in 1857 in Hertford. Marcus had a son named Clyde Allen Britton who was born in 1889 in Hetford. Clyde Britton had a son named George Russell Britton Sr. who was born in 1920. George Russell is my Grandfather and lives in Portsmouth, VA. As far as I know this is all correct. The following is questionable:
 John Britton Sr.'s father was named James Britton and was born around 1709, possibly in wales.

My grandfather, Robert, was George Russell's brother.  He passed away in 2003 in Richmond/Chesterfield, VA where I currently reside.

If you happen to come across this reply, feel free to contact me via email or through the board or whatever.  I don't have much information on the Britton side past Clyde Allen.  Ancestry appears to have mixed information on Marcus (the inmates seem to literally be running the asylum over there) and I'm hesitant to run with the "member tree's" without having found reliable information on Marcus independently.
