We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for this Surname.   Our Surname Project is primarily interested in your Paternal line, as surnames are passed down from father to son, just as the yDNA is passed down.

If you ARE A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, send your pedigree by email to WorldFamilies.net at mari@worldfamilies.net.  The pedigree will then be posted on the Surname Project's Patriarchs Page by Worldfamilies.net or sent to the Project’s Administrator.

Please include the following:
•       Name of project
•       Kit Number
•       Name of person posting pedigree
•       Email address to be posted with pedigree
•       Name, birthdate, birthplace, spouse of Earliest Known Ancestor
•       List each succeeding generation, using only those four items of information (or substitute another item of information if missing an item)

(If you have more information you would like to share, you may also post a more extended version of your family pedigree on the project website’s Pedigree Forum below)

If you are NOT A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, you are welcome to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum below.  We hope an interested researcher will see it and contact you to share information.

Hi, Tonya.  Welcome to the site.  If you have a family tree, post it here, and I will put it on the Clinton Patriarch page.  Good luck with your research.

From an email sent by Joseph Clint [J.Clint AT qub.ac.uk]:

I was wondering if a piece of information given regarding the Clint family of Ballygelagh, Co Down, Ireland

is correct –

http://www.worldfamilies.net/forum/index.php?topic=10697.0

CLINT
[With angel's head and wings carved at the top.]
I.H.S.
Here lyeth the body of Nicholas Clint of Tullytroman who died 12th Jan. 1753 age 63 yrs. BORN 1690 [TULLYTRAMMON IS PORTAFERRY]
Also his wife Mary McNAB who died 12th Nov. 1759 age 66 yrs. BORN 1693 MARRIED C 1714 DIED 1759 MARRIED FOR 45 YRS.
and their Childring

Clint

I.H.S.
Here lyety the body of JOHN Clint of Ballygellah who died 20 Aug. 1804 age 58 yrs. BORN 1746 ( HE HAD A SISTER NANCY WHO MARRIED JOHN HUGHES)
Also of Margaret his wife died 9th Aug. 1776 age 30 yrs.
BORN 1746 MARRIED C 1770 DIED AGE 30 MARRIED FOR 6 YRS HAD MARGARET B 1771 BELOW AND JOHN CLINT JUN WHO MARRIED NANCY SAVAGE

JOHN CLINT JUNIOR, SON OF JOHN & MARG. CLINT & GRANDSON OF NICHOLAS

When John Clint Senior was born, (c 1746), Mary Clint, (nee McNab) wife of Nicholas Clint, was aged 53 years and therefore not his mother.

It is more likely that John Clint senior is the grandson of Nicholas and Mary and John Clint Junior a great-grand son.

In the same Ardkeen graveyard where these Clints are buried, there is another gravestone, with the top half broken off –

On the part of the stone that is left there is the inscription -------‘ Clint who departed this life in the year of Our lord 1785.

This Clint may have been a son of Nicholas & Mary and the father of John Clint Senior. If born c 1716 he would have been aged

about 70 years at the time of death  and about 40 years when John senior was born in 1746.
