We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for the Garcia Family Project Patriarch page. (You don’t have to be a test participant to post your family pedigree.)

There are two ways to make your pedigree available to the project administrator for posting on the Patriarch Page:
1.  Send the pedigree by email directly to carrie@worldfamilies.net in the simplified form described below  (If you send it this way, your pedigree will only be posted on the Patriarch Page, and will not be included in the Pedigree Forum)
Be sure to include

                 E
mail address you wish to be posted with the pedigree
Kit number of the project participant whose pedigree this is
                 N
ame, birthdate, birthplace, spouse for each generation (direct  male line).

2.  Log-in to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum.  By posting your pedigree on the forum, you are making it available for the Project Administrator to post it on the Patriarch Page, along with your contact information, and kit number (or code identity number).

  1. You must be logged in to post on this forum.
How do I register to post a pedigree?
I've already registered. How do I log in?

  2.  Please include your Kit number or Code Identity number if you have been tested for the project.

  3. Please read the following instructions, then scroll down to the last posting on this forum and click "reply" in order to post your pedigree.

  4. The pedigree for a Surname Project follows your paternal line.  Please post only the information for each generation:

Full Name of Earliest Known Male Ancestor for this Surname
His birthdate
Birthplace
Spouse’s name

(If you are missing any piece of this information, post another bit of identifying information)

Suggestions for Posting your Pedigree on this forum:

o        Post four pieces of information for each ancestor

o        Begin with the earliest generation

o        Use standard abbreviations:  m=married, b=born, d=died, c=circa, Co=county, VA=Virginia, GA=Georgia, etc

o        Try to keep to one line per generation

o        Include only generations that have this family surname

o        Provide your name and email address as the pedigree provider

o        Provide the kit number and/or project code identity number if pedigree is for a tested participant

o        Use surname with each generation

o        Don’t use all caps

o        Don’t include anyone whose birthdate is after 1910, for privacy concerns.

o        Don’t number the generations

Scroll down to the last posting on this forum and click "reply". Post your pedigree in the box provided, and click "Post".

If you do not see a"reply" tab, it means you have lost your log in and will need to log in again in order to post. Go back to the project home page, log in again, and return to the pedigree forum. Login should hold the second time.

Hi Rosemary.  The test takes about 8 weeks.

Are you looking at mtDNA (your mother's mother's mother's line) which
you
can do, or yDNA for the surname side - which require you to have a male
with
the relevant surname tested.

Y-DNA tests are $101, $171 or $221.  mtDNA tests are $131 or $191.

A test may tell you whether that portion of your ancestry represented
by the
test is native american or originated in Spain (or other country)  If
it is
your historic ancestry, the $101 and $131 tests are sufficient.  If you
are
wanting to use it for genealogy, you'll eventually want a higher priced
test.

In case Garcia is the surname of interest, here are our websites- which
include a link to order.

Thank you it is my pleasure to participate.

My Genographic Map places me in Haplogroup R1b (M343).

My Grandfather's name is Sergio Garc?a Villarreal he was born in China, Nuevo Leon, He married- Maria Socorro Hodgers
His father was Daniel Garcia de la Cerda also born in China, Nuevo Leon, He married- Macedonia Villarreal Cota

As far as the family knows my great-grandfather?s name was Indalecio Garcia...we do not know his second last name or in what year he was born but we know he married Maria de Los Angeles de la Cerda we also do not know her second last name.

Best Regards to all and I hope some one will recognize one or more of these names.

Our background is clearly European and I hope this website and the DNA project can shed more light on my family?s background and origin.

P.S. As you can see, I was placed in the middle of two different lineages, because I have a very similar mapping to the above group and the group placed below. I am in the middle of both lineages, therefore I might be related, but the probability is very slim that it is recent.

I found I have an exact match with one of your Garcias. You can see my DNA info at the following link,
http://www.ysearch.org/search_view.asp?uid=nunn2&viewuid=NUNN2&p=0

While researching my family, the oldest record I could find was a marriage between Jose Francisco Guajardo and Maria Trinidad Garcia who were married in 1805. It lists his father as Ramon Guajardo, but I could not find Ramon's baptism record.

I was contacted by a member of HOGAR (a hispanic genealogy group) and was told my information appeared to match another members tree. I was told the oldest members of the family were named Guajardo Garcia. Their children took variations of the name (Guajardo-Garcia, Garcia-Guajardo, Guajardo, Garcia). I asked around to see if there is some kind of rule to explain this, but was told it was simply a custom during that time period. I've seen similar name changes on other family trees.

Pedro Guajardo Garcia, b c1668 Montererry MX, m Ana Maria Bazan, d?
Bartolome Guajardo Garcia, b c1701 Monterrey MX, m Maria Margarita Rodriguez
Jose Ramon Guajardo Garcia, b c1744 Valle De Las Salinas MX, m Maria Cecilia Ignacia Sambrano, d?
Jose Francisco Guajardo, b c1785 Monterey MX, m Maria Trinidad Garcia 1805, d ?
Jose Francisco Ricardo Guajardo, b 1815 Monterrey MX, m Petra Ortegon 1835, d ?
Jose Nicolas De Jesus Guajardo, b 1837 Monterrey MX, m Maria Gracia Montes 1862, d ?
Ramon Guajardo, b c1888 in Mexico, m Guadalupe Ortega, d 1947 in Texas
Ramon Guajardo Jr., b 1913 in Mexico, m Sofia Saldivar, d 2000 in Texas? ? ?[My Grandfather]
