Notes on Englebert Geiger:
Immigrated to USA out of Bremner Germany in 1871 Aboard the SS Weser
Cleburne Texas where there was a large German population.
Englebert was a “joiner” (Carpenter) who made his living building cabinets and furniture.
Sometime after the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 he moved his family to Jackson Heights Queens, NY where he and Phillipina lived out their lives.

John W. Geiger, Sr. and Elizabeth (Gibbons) Geiger where married around 1921
JWG worked for Con Edison (a New York Electric Company) for his entire working life
JWG and E(G)G settled in Astoria Queens, NY following their marriage where they had their 4 children.
Following John W. Geiger Jr. death in 1944 they moved to Flushing Queens , NY where they lived out their lives.
Of their 4 children, the youngest, Donald, was "given" to Elizabeth’s younger sister Mae Tripp to be raised. Mae was childless and John Sr. and Elizabeth were overwhelmed with the raising of John Jr., and the twins Richard and Robert. Donald was about 5 years old at the time.
This "sharing" of children within families was not uncommon during the late 1800's and early 1900's. Often financial situations warranted this practice as was the case with John Sr. and Elizabeth.

Following college he went to work for Litton Industries in Riverhead NJ
In 1957 he was transferred to Litton California offices. Following a short time in CA he moved his family back to the east coast, settling in Stamford Connecticut. He continued to work in the electronics field throughout his career. Following the death of his first wife in 1978 (age 49) RHG remarried several years later and became an ex-patriot living in Spain till his death in 2000. His marriage to Teresa Garcia Ruz, a native Spaniard precipitated his move to Spain.
