His son Richard Gleeson, my grandfather married Gobnait (Abbie) Shea, daughter of John Shea and Gobnait Sullivan on 22 February 1887 at Cahirdaniel and lived at Derreensillagh, County Kerry.? The children from this union, were:? Mary (1889), Bridget (1892), Catherine (1893), Ellen (1895) John (1897), Patrick (1900), Hanora (1902)
Richard Gleeson died in 1943 at Derreensillagh and is buried in Coad.

Hello!  I've just found this site by way of the Nat. Geo. dna project.  I chose the Y test.  Results are interesting.  Not sure how to list the pedigree somewhere on this site.  Don't know about any earlier Gleason relatives, except to say dad said his father and mother names were:

Edward Nicholas Gleason, NYC, m Helen Stanko, NYC

Nicholas Edward, b April 6, 1906 NYC, d Jan. 2, 1969 Demarest, N.J., m Catherine Ruzbacky 1938, d Oct 1998 Clearwater, Fla
Nicholas Edward, b Aug 28, 1941 NYC. m Winifred Garran, Aug 10, 1968, Demarest, N.J.
Virginia Catherine b May 14, 1943 Teaneck, N.J. m Leonard Tousignant 1964
Douglas Stephan b Oct 4, 1976
Allison Nicole b Feb 9, 1976 (adopted)

Carrie,
I now have y-37 complete and am awaiting deep clade SNP.  Should the #'s be added here?  I looked at Thomas Gleason #'s and mine aren't close.  For example mine include 393=14 390=22 and 19=15.  TG's #'s are mostly different.  my haplogroup is G2a  Yeah, that's pakistan.  Yet, i'm fair red & blue.  what does it mean?

Hi, Nick.

Unfortunately I do not have any answers for you regarding your most recent post as I work almost entirely with pedigrees.  Therefore, I have passed your questions along to Terry, who will be able to answer them for you.  I'm sorry I can't be more help!

We ask you to post your "Pedigree" on the Gleason Family Project Patriarch page.  Simply click "Reply" and type in your family information, then click "Post".

1. You can provide either your personal ancestry or your general family information.  Terry's are listed below as a reference.
2. Your info is meant to provide enough so that another researcher can recognise your family and contact you. This is not a place to list all you know.
3. Keep to one line per generation.  Abbreviate and leave off unnecessary date (married date & place, death date & place)
4. You can include the surname or leave it out, just be consistent
5. Only include generations that have your family surname
6. Please keep the information simple and don't try to "Format" it, as that will only make more work for us
7. Please provide your name and email address, so that other researchers can contact you

Greetings Gleasons,

While chatting on the phone with G-16 (my friend Tom), we played around with the SMGF database and extracted the results for two Gleason men who tested through SMGF.    One of the men is from the Thomas Gleason of Massachusetts line and matched the rest of you well, but the other gentleman appears to represent a completely different Gleason line (at least genetically) that you can see below.

James GLEASON  b. ABT Dec 1772 Dorchester, Suffolk, MA  d. 10 Aug 1805 Dorchester, Suffolk, MA
James Glover GLEASON  b. Dec 1795 Dorchester, Suffolk, MA d. 6 Oct 1853 Plymouth, Plymouth, MA
Herbert GLEASON   b. 22 Oct 1830 Plymouth,  MA
Sumner Lawrence GLEASON  b. 17 May 1860 Madden, MA   d. Kaysville, Davis, UT
Herbert Lester GLEASON  b. 8 Aug 1891 Denver, Denver, CO

The following link will show you the DNA results for the above line.  His results are the first Gleason line with all the light blue boxes which means the marker values right above are accurate for him.

http://tinyurl.com/5h2ujm

The line below him is the Gleason line that matched your line, but you can see by the dark blue boxes that these two Gleason men do not match.

So below is just part of the lineage your Gleason relative provided.  It looks a little suspect, but the DNA is a match.

Thomas GLEASON b. Abt 1682  of Sherborn, Middlesex, Massachusetts
Joseph GLEASON  b. 5 May 1672   Framingham, , Mass  (fathered Ezekiel at 78?)
Ezekiel GLEASON  b. 1750   Oxford, Worcester, Ma
John Streator GLEASON 13 Jan 1819  Livonia, Livingston, New York

This link shows you his correct DNA values.

http://tinyurl.com/64xbfr

All for what it's worth.

Jane,

Thank you for your posting at the Gleason project regarding the DNA results of two Gleason men tested by SMGF.  I did not find your message until after the New Year, and I apologize for not responding sooner.

As you point out there is clearly a match of one of these men to "our" Gleason family members who descend from the patriarch Thomas of MA. The pedigree given for him by Ancestrial File is incorrect in several regards. I am unable to find any verification that Ezekiel Gleason who married Ester Streeter was the son of Joseph Gleason who married Lydia Tarbox in 1743. This was probably an assumption based upon the process of elimination. Furthermore the date given for the birth of Joseph Gleason is incorrect. It is recorded in Framingham as 5 May 1722, not 1672.  This may be a typo. Joseph's father, Thomas Gleason, who married Mary Mellon, was born about 1670, not 1682.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Regards,
Judith Gleason Claassen
