Gormanjm and I have been in contact with each other, and with another descendant of the above Maurice Gorman, and are beginning to piece together some information about this family's pedigree from our respective records. 

The Mitchelstown birthplace shown above, which comes from some birth records, may simply have been listed as the nearest town to where this family actually lived, which appears to be Garryvurragha Townland, just across the border from Mitchelstown (Co. Cork), in Co. Limerick, also closely bordering Co. Tipperary.  I have therefore listed their place of origin as "Co. Limerick or Cork" on the patriarchs page:

 I currently have Michael Gorman listed as Born Glenmore Co. Kilkenny Ireland in 1791-97 and on down to myself.
 I now know his father (Michael's)  was Denis Gorman B/1748 in Glenmore as well.  Denis also had a brother William B/1742 but I have no further info on either of them .

I beleive this is the same family that I have tried to find information. Does your William Evart Gorman have a brother named Amel F. Gorman b. 1902. If so I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. The above mentioned Amel is said to be my paternal grandfather. My grandmother's name was Mary Ruth Blanton. Amel and Mary would have had a son b. in 1928, his name was William Paul Gorman; this was my father. Any help is greatly appricated.

...and scroll down to the section with Matthew's family, you'll see a contact person for that lineage, with his e-mail address.  Hopefully somebody from your lineage will see your post in this forum and reply, but you may have better luck contacting that contact person directly.

Have you considered DNA testing?  In cases of questionable lineage like yours seems to be, DNA testing can easily establish (or rule out) that you belong to a particular lineage.  You'd have to test a living male relative (brother, uncle, close cousin, father, etc) who was born with the Gorman surname to do the type of test that would help you.  Feel free to send me a PM if you want to discuss it with me.
