We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for the Herndon Family Project Patriarch page. (You don’t have to be a test participant to post your family pedigree.)  

There are two ways to make your pedigree available to the project administrator for posting on the Patriarch Page:
1.  Send the pedigree by email directly to carrie@worldfamilies.net in the simplified form described below  (If you send it this way, your pedigree will only be posted on the Patriarch Page, and will not be included in the Pedigree Forum)
Be sure to include  
                 Email address you wish to be posted with the pedigree
                 Kit number of the project participant whose pedigree this is
                 Name, birthdate, birthplace, spouse for each generation (direct  male line).

2.  Log-in to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum.  By posting your pedigree on the forum, you are making it available for the Project Administrator to post it on the Patriarch Page, along with your contact information, and kit number (or code identity number).

3. Please read the following instructions, then scroll down to the last posting on this forum and click "reply" in order to post your pedigree.


4. The pedigree for a Surname Project follows your paternal line.  Please post only the information for each generation:

Spouse’s name

(If you are missing any piece of this information, post another bit of identifying information) 

Suggestions for Posting your Pedigree on this forum:

o        Post four pieces of information for each ancestor

o        Begin with the earliest generation

o        Use standard abbreviations:  m=married, b=born, d=died, c=circa, Co=county, VA=Virginia, GA=Georgia, etc

o        Try to keep to one line per generation

o        Include only generations that have this family surname

o        Provide your name and email address as the pedigree provider

o        Provide the kit number and/or project code identity number if pedigree is for a tested participant

o        Use surname with each generation

o        Don’t use all caps

o        Don’t include anyone whose birthdate is after 1910, for privacy concerns.

o        Don’t number the generations

FYI the following FACTS were verified by me through Census and other courthouse records working with a professional geneoligist who took me into courthouses in Virginia in Fluvanna and Mineral, abstract of will of Frances S. Haislip Herndon's father (his name was John S. Haislip, his wife was Susannah, abstract done by my geneologist) (copies of all my research documentation are available via e mail):
James H. Herndon, b abt 1801 of Fluvannah, Virginia, married Frances S. Haislip on 1 Sept. 1824, ceremony performed by Minister Walker Timberlake, who was Methodist.? Frances S. Haislip was b abt 1807. Ages and birthdates show some variation depending on which census you look at.? The father of James H. Herndon was Joseph Herndon, his mother was Susannah Haislip. (this is not a typo, James H. Herndon's mother's maiden name was Haislip and his wife's maiden name was Haislip).? Following census records before and after the marriage we find other facts.? James H. Herndon and Frances S. Haislip? Herndon had several children; Mary W. Herndon b abt 1831, Lucy W. Herndon b abt. 1832, Susan C. Haislip b abt 1833 or possibly as early as 1825, John M. Herndon b abt 1834, Ann J. Herndon aka Ann H. J. Herndon, b abt. 1835,unverified exact date of birth 08/14/1835,? Eviline J. herndon b abt 1835, , Sarah F. Herndon b abt 1838. I have found no living descendents of James H. Herndon and Frances S. Haislip Herndon.? James and Frances took in other children, at least the two Wilson brothers, James b abt 1853 and George H. b abt. 1857. It is possible that some of the other children in the family were also adopted, possibly Eveline J or Sarah F, based only on the fact that James and Frances not only too in the Wilson Brothers before 1860, but that even after sometime in the early 1860's when we lose track of James H. Herndon, Frances continues to have "others" in her home. Here is where it gets confusing: In 1870 Frances S. Haislip Herndon is a widow. In her home we find her daughter, Ann H. with a last name of? GARD and her grandson Edward F. GARD, b abt 1864 in Fluvannah. In the census of 1880 Frances S. Haislip Herndon remains in Fluvannah with her daughter Ann, now back to being listed as Ann Herndon, and Edw F. now age 15 and last name implied to be Herndon. People now living who knew Edward F. GUARD say the he told them he as an orphan raised by an aunt.? Perhaps I am a descendent of Frances S. Haislip Herndon and James H. Herndon through their daughter Ann H J Herndon. Perhaps Ann married a man named Guard or Gard, perhaps he merely serviced her. Perhaps Frances and Ann took in another orphan. Perhaps other rumours are true, my GGGGrandfather may have been a mysterious and never found Frank Guard, and his wife may have been a mysterious and never found Annie Haislip. Proof as to whether or not I am a Herndon probably lies in the DNA. I have submitted my DNA to Family Tree DNA and am williing to be open with all I have and know with almost anyone.
