We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for this Surname.   Our Surname Project is primarily interested in your Paternal line, as surnames are passed down from father to son, just as the yDNA is passed down.

If you ARE A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, send your pedigree by email to WorldFamilies.net at carrie@worldfamilies.net.  The pedigree will then be posted on the Surname Project's Patriarchs Page by Worldfamilies.net or sent to the Project’s Administrator.

Please include the following:  (If you have more information you would like to share, you may also post a more extended version of your family pedigree on the project website’s Pedigree Forum below)
•       Name of project
•       Kit Number
•       Name of person posting pedigree
•       Email address to be posted with pedigree
•       Name, birthdate, birthplace, spouse of Earliest Known Ancestor
•       List each succeeding generation, using only those four items of information (or substitute another item of information if missing an item)

If you are NOT A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, you are welcome to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum below.  We hope an interested researcher will see it and contact you to share information.

To post on this Pedigree Forum:
1.  Register and log in at www.worldfamilies.net.
(How do I register to post a pedigree? Click here http://www.worldfamilies.net/register)
(I've already registered. How do I log in? Click here http://www.worldfamilies.net/alreadyregistered)
2.  When you have logged in, scroll to the last posting on this forum, click "reply" and post your pedigree.
a.  Please do not include names for anyone born after 1910, to protect privacy.
b.  If you have questions or are unable to post your pedigree on this forum, please contact carrie@worldfamilies.net

For a step-by-step guide to using DNA for genealogy, please read DNA the Smart Way www.worldfamilies.net/sm

Hi, Richard.  I can't post your pedigree on the patriarch page because the birthdates are too recent (for privacy reasons, we don't post birthdates after 1910).  If you will post your email address, other John family researchers may contact you.
I hope you will join the John family DNA project.

David John, b. abt. 1712, Pencader Hundred, New Castle, Delaware
Zephaniah John, b. abt. 1750 in Queensborough/Craven S.C. d.?
Daniel John, b.btw 1770-1775 in Hancock or Houston County, GA

We have found no actual docutmentation that William Green John is the son of Daniel John of Hancock and Houston County, Georgia.  But according to various research Daniel is the most logical individual to be his father.  There are documents in the Houston County records which link Daniel to John M. John, who we believe to be the brother of William.  "Daniel is believed to be the son of Zephaniah John of N.C., GA, and TN.  Again - no definite proof document has been found linking these two together, Zephaniah was the son of David and Mary John, and that relationship IS supposedly documented.

William Green John(s) b. 1807, d.. ? (probably in Alabama)
Marshall R. Johns b. July 1832, GA, d., March 1908, Alabama
William Reddy Johns, b. Dec. 1861, Alabama d. March 1939, Evergreen,AL
Charles Lonnie Johns, Sr. b., Aug. 1888, Evergreen, AL, D. Nov. 1962, Evergreen, AL
Charles Lonnie Johns, Jr. b. Dec. 1933, Evergreen, AL, D. May 14, 1999, Houston, TX

Thanks for any proof or documentation of where our line truly fits in here!

Hello I'm new to this site but interested. I was born Clary Leonard John Jr. My family goes back to whales in the 1600's. David and Mary John are my relatives. My aunt, Joada John has done a lot of the available research on the John family. Her records are in several Libraries and at the DAR. My part of the John Family went from Wales to Welsh Tract, DE. ( then art of PA) and from there to Welsh Neck, SC. From there they went to GA and then to Tenn and finally Arkansas. My grandfather was a doctor in Eureka Springs.
Above, I say I was born Clary John Jr because my mother and father divorced when I was three and my mother changed my name to her father's name Mortimer Serat. Then when she remarried Alden Adams my name was further changed to Mortimer Serat Adams. I have always been called Buzz Adams. I found out all this when I was close to forty and didn't hook back up with my John family side until I was almost 50. Needless to say it was a long journey but ended well.
My children like to tease me about all my names. It seems my father Clary's nickname was Clate. So combining Mortimer and Clate, they call me Clatimer. But please just call me Buzz.
