My grandfather came to Miller County Arkansas either as a child or older, is it possible James Alexander Lamb was his brother or cousin? My great- grandfather was born in 1873 his name was William Melvin Lamb, one of his sons had Alexander as a middle name. Arkadelphia Ark is only about 75 miles from Texarkana, I've heard of Big Spring Tx but not sure where it is

Hi, Larry--I see you are interested in DNA studies.  WE are just starting a Lampson Lamson Lambson DNA Surname study--log into the Myfamily.com website for details and updates and I will email you the details on participation.

We hope you will participate and maybe we can figure out which line Arthur William came from?

Hi, nadaze2day.  The items in red are simply another way of identifying the members of the DNA project.  When a person joins the DNA project, he or she is given a GAP note, which is what you are asking about.  We use these to identify members as often as possible, as on the results page, to avoid using their names and protect their privacy.  Thanks and I hope that answers your question!

My maternal grandmother was Margaret Kirby Reese (first husband Palestine Kirby).
Her parents were Henry Martin Lamb 1883 (Shelton Lamb/Secilly Richardson) and
Nora Ellen Lakes.

Henry and Nora had many children.  My Grandmother and all of her sisters passed
on fragile x syndrome (the leading inherited cause of mental retardation) to thier
offspring and future generations.  None of the brothers seemed to have any mentall
challenged offspring, therefore, we think my great grandfather, Henry Martin Lamb, was
a carrier of fragile x sydrome from his mother, Secilly Richardson. His father's (Shelton
Lamb) brothers also married Richardson daughters.  I don't know if Secilly's mother or
father would have been the carrier, but I do know that only about 20% of the males are
carriers (they are usually affected), so her mother was probably the carrier.  Secilly's mother would have had a 50% chance of passing the gene on to each of her offspring.  Henry Martins brothers that married Secilly's sisters are as follows...
William H. Lamb married Mary L. Richardson in 1885
Josiah S. Lamb married Louvina Richardson  in 1890
Also  Henry Martin Lamb's sister married a Richardson
Eliza J. Lamb (Shelton Lamb and Secilly Richardson daughter) married
Millard Richardson.  If he is from the same Richardson family as Great,Great grandma Secilly, then this line of heritage would have an increased chance of being fragile x carriers and should be tested. Please contact me for information. Thank you.

Hi, Amy.

Your pedigree has been merged with that of Larry Lamb as you share common ancestors:  http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/l/lamb/pats.html

Everything was fine, the only other information that would be helpful is locations (City/State) for the individuals in your pedigree and the names of their spouses if you know.  You will notice that I did not include the last few generations on the patriarch page as we do not list there anyone born after 1910 for privacy.  There is a link from your pedigree on the pats page to your full post on the forum.

Thanks so much and good luck with your research!
