Well, we have our first Z251+ results this morning: Munn, kit 139697, McKnight, kit 29523, and Watt, kit 89888.

Note: Edited to correct a typo in the second kit number above. It's correct now.

Wow 3 pluses out of only 17 tests according to Ysearch and some of those would have been FTDNA making sure the primer worked, this could be huge.

None of these look to have anything to do with each other from the point of view of STR results either but I did get a little overexcited when I looked up 29253 and saw he was Scots Modal, easy typo to make !!

Hey guys, it's been awhile since I've been on here, but is Z251 something that other subclades of DF13 should test, or has this already been answered before?

Oh, yeah. I wrote that early in the morning. It should have read "kit 29523". Sorry.

Honestly, I'm not sure how that is going. I think some clades have already tested negative for it, but it hasn't made ISOGG's tree yet, so the process of elimination must not yet be complete.

No, clades under DF13 shouldn't test for it. It is supposed to be a brother to the ones under DF13. I guess I will have to pony up my $39 to see what happens with my result. Was hoping it would get more defined by common STRs first, but what the heck.

I knew that.

What I was talking about was the sort of testing needed to put Z251 on ISOGG's tree. Each clade under DF13 has to be systematically tested for Z251 in order to determine Z251's position.

I tested negative for Z251 as well as negative for L1406, although for the life of me I cannot recall even why I tested for L1406. So I remain at DF13*.

Mike is reporting that on his spreadsheet the Little 4 (L96, L144.1, L371 and L555) have not yet tested for Z251, so I guess those at a minimum will still have to be tested.

As of right now we have Z251 tests on order for people who are DF21+, DF41+, DF49+, L96+, L513+, and Z255+.

An L371+ guy and a couple of L1335+ guys have tested negative for Z251.

We still need Z251 tests from CTS4466+, L144+, L555+, and Z253+ individuals.

We're not too far off.

Okay, here's how we currently stand on the drive to get Z251 on ISOGG's R Tree. The following kits, with their respective subclades (represented by SNP), have Z251 on order:

CTS4466+: Carroll, kit N59178

DF21+: Reynolds, kit 20437

DF41+: Duffy, kit 176148

DF49+: Stedman, kit 117897

L96+: Drake, kit 176268

L513+: Walsh, kit N54638

Z255+: Doty, kit 33100

We still need to test L144, L555, and Z253 for Z251.

We cannot pay for all of those tests, so hopefully representatives of those groups will step up and order the test for themselves or some more donations will come in.

Adding L555 to the list covered by ordered Z251 tests.

CTS4466+: Carroll, kit N59178

DF21+: Reynolds, kit 20437

DF41+: Duffy, kit 176148

DF49+: Stedman, kit 117897

L96+: Drake, kit 176268

L513+: Walsh, kit N54638

L555+: Irvine, kit 22874

Z255+: Doty, kit 33100

Now we just need an L144+ guy and one Z253+ guy to order a Z251 test apiece and we're good to go.

If anyone wants to donate $78 to the R-L21 Plus Project General Fund to cover those two tests, it would be appreciated.

Here's the updated list.

CTS4466+: Carroll, kit N59178

DF21+: Reynolds, kit 20437

DF41+: Duffy, kit 176148

DF49+: Stedman, kit 117897

L96+: Drake, kit 176268

L513+: Walsh, kit N54638

L555+: Irvine, kit 22874

Z253+: Sisk, kit 102241

Z255+: Doty, kit 33100

Now all we need is an L144+ volunteer.

We're done!

Here's the list of the Z251 orders:

CTS4466+: Carroll, kit N59178

DF21+: Reynolds, kit 20437

DF41+: Duffy, kit 176148

DF49+: Stedman, kit 117897

L96+: Drake, kit 176268

L144+: Prosser, kit 57993

L513+: Walsh, kit N54638

L555+: Irvine, kit 22874

Z253+: Sisk, kit 102241

Z255+: Doty, kit 33100

That should do it!

Now we wait.

As of this morning we have eliminated DF49, Z253, and Z255 from the Z251+ phylogeny with Z251- results for the following kits:

Stedman, kit 117897 (DF49+)

Sisk, kit 102241 (Z253+)

Doty, kit 33100 (Z255+)

I see in the draft tree details that Z251 results have held steady for awhile at 6 positive and 41 negative. Do anyone know how many more pending Z251 tests are in the queue?

Okay, the following are Z251- as of this morning:

Duffy, kit 176148 (DF41+)

Drake, kit 176268 (L96+)

In another surprise, however, the following is Z251+:

Irvine, kit 22874 (L555+)

I'm just waiting on ISOGG to add Z251 to its tree. Then I will add a new category for it to the R-L21 Plus Project.

Well, if we ever find the Baltic Cluster SNP (above L583 and below Z251), it would be able to go on the ISOGG tree because Prago #99631 and I have a GD of around 13 at 111 markers which would be enough diversity to qualify. Only problem is we haven't been able to find it, and may not for a while.

All we need before Z251 can make it onto the ISOGG Tree is for our CTS4466+ and L144+ guys to get their Z251 test results.

Hopefully that will happen next week.

Our L144+ man, Prosser, kit 57993, got a Z251- result this morning.

Another Z251+ result (from Kit 24273) also showed up, now making 8 known positive results out of 50. This person is in the 251-711 group, so it is an expected result.

The Z251+ list is steadily growing. I'll be glad when ISOGG finally adds it to its tree.
