Hi, Dave.  I'm afraid I don't understand the dates well enough to post your pedigree on the Patriarch page.  If you can post your pedigree in the simplified form we use on the Patriarch page, I'll be happy to post it.  Good luck with your research.

From an email sent by George C. Howell Jr. [georgeinalabama AT knology.net]:

Kit #42219

1-Unknown BLACKMAN, lived in Wayne County, NC mate (possibly) Patience RAIFORD, b 1775 NC – d 1839 AL
. 2-Bennett B HOWELL, b 1798 NC – d after 1860 AL,  m Charlotte BLACKMAN, b 1797 TN – d after 1850 AL
. . 3-George Washington HOWELL, b 1828 TN d 1879 AL, m Jennie Mildred GRAHAM, b 1844 AL – d 1895 FL
. . . 4-Ira Clinton HOWELL, b 1874 AL – d 1952 AL, m Robert Etter LIDDELL, b 1874 AL – d 1956 AL
. . . . 5-George Lewis HOWELL, b 1900 FL – d 1969 AL, m Emmie Irene KENDRICK, b 1901 FL – d. 1976 AL
. . . . . 6-George Clinton HOWELL, b 1922 FL – d 1980 AL, m Eunice Angeline JENKINS, b 1919 KY – d 2003 AL
. . . . . . 7-George Clinton HOWELL Jr, b 1947 AL

My earliest ancestor whom I know to be a Blackman is Bennett Blackman Howell, born about 1798 in Wayne County, NC and died after 1860, probably in Alabama.

Bennett’s father of record is Lewis Howell, born about 1778 in Wayne County, NC and died 1840 in Perry County, Alabama. Lewis Howell had 8 sons and 1 daughter.

We have tested Y-DNA for descendants of three of Lewis Howell’s sons: Bennett, John, and Rufus.

The Y-DNA of descendants of John and Rufus match each other, and match a group of Howells in the FTDNA Howell Project identified as Group 1 (NC and VA heritage).

Bennett’s descendants’ Y-DNA (including mine) does not match the Y-DNA of descendants of John and Rufus. Bennett’s descendants’ Y-DNA (including mine) matches males named Blackman/Blackmon.
So, Bennett Blackman Howell’s biological father was not a Howell, he was a Blackman.

We do not know the Blackman male who was the father of Bennett Blackman Howell. We have some suspects named Blackman who lived in Wayne County, NC, or thereabouts, around the time Bennett was born.

My prime suspect is a Cullen Blackman who lived next door to Lewis Howell and his family in the 1810 Census of Wayne County, NC. We have not found any parents or ancestors for that Cullen Blackman anywhere. I have tracked Cullen’s descendants into Mississippi, but there are no males left, as far as I know.
