Tested 111 markers which will put me at R1b1a2a1a1b4 (long version) according to my matches, I tested DF21-, DF13+, skipped over L21. Shouldn't the folks at FTDNA assume L21+ based on DF13+?

Sorry I'm confused by your post. R1b1a2a1a1b4 is L21. But regardless , if your asking about how they designate at FTDNA I would say they are behind as far as new SNP's are concerned . I believe they are waiting for new publications before they change trees. I am DF13 but they still show me as L21.
Is this what you meant or am I missing something?

I skipped over testing for L21 and tested positive for DF13, my predicted haplogroup at FTDNA still shows R-M269. The haplotree doesn't go deep enough to show DF13 so I guess my question is shouldn't L21 and all other upstream SNPs show as "presumed positive"?

Hope that clarifies my question.

Thanks for the reply.

I see what you mean. FTDNA does not test very deeply in their marker test. You will stay at M269.
They will not adjust your tree based on snp testing. If that where important to you then you need to take the Geno 2 test which is FTDNA's new deep Clade.

We had a similar case in my project where a member wanted a "green" long result on the Y-SNP report. As FTDNA's tree is so outdated, the only way to get that in your case, is to test for L21. As we both know, that is a waste of money. You know you are L21+. FTDNA's haplotree simply doesn't understand that DF13 is under L21.

The good news is that FTDNA said they will update their tree within 2-3 months.

Another way to look at is that because of all the snp testing people have done all our trees are wrong. Yours is just wronger! Is that a word? Lol

Ok, that makes sense I guess. Just have to wait 2-3 months.

Thanks Kai & brunetmj
