Caucasus "eve"

Just wanting to know why .....if Europeans are known as caucasian male and female, why then is the MtDna CRS come from H Mtdna instead of the caucasus marker of N.

N came from L3 ( the out of Africa marker) .

To me this is illogical in concept and leads to "bottlenecking" a marker H as a false starting major mtDna marker.

The way its done know, places many H people in unknown postional beginnings.

It is a convention taken historically before the knowledge of the mtdna haplotree.

In the below paper, there is a proposal to take a new reference according to the haplotree, but a lot of scientifics and commercial companies are not enthusiastic to change the reference and their habits.

Mutational events along the human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) phylogeny are traditionally identified relative to the revised Cambridge Reference Sequence (rCRS), a contemporary European sequence published in 1981. This historical choice is a continuous source of inconsistencies, misinterpretations and errors in medical, forensic and population genetic studies. Here, after having refined the human mtDNA phylogeny to an unprecedented level by adding information from 8,216 modern mitogenomes, we propose switching the reference to a Reconstructed Sapiens Reference Sequence (RSRS), which was identified by considering all available mitogenomes from Homo neanderthalensis.
