Hi,
I am helping my neighbour with his family tree, we are back as far as John McKeag born abt 1861 who married Agnes Miller in 1880 at Ballyblack Presbyterian Church ,we have their 12 children and most of who they married and where they immigrated to.We know that Johns father was Robert McKeag.I understand my neighbours Grandparents are buried in Carrowdore Church of Ireland Graveyard , I hope to visit it soon to see what other McKeags may be buried there. His Grandparents are John McKeag born 1886 and Margaret Jane Burrows ,they also married in Ballyblack Prebyterian Church in 1912.Any help with Robert Mckeag and who he married and what family he may have had  will   be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the terrific effort you have made in supplying the information on the McKeag Graves .I was down at the Carrowdore Church of Ireland Graveyard and found 8 McKeag Graves ,two of which belonged to the family I am researching. That was for William Burrows McKeag died 02.08.1995 aged 78 years and in another his parents John McKeag and Margaret Jane Burrows ,John died 29.07.1945.I went to the Ballyblack church yesterday and found 3 McKeag graves I believe I  have found the Gt grandfathers grave John McKeag and Agnes Miller ,John died 19.08.1940 and Agnes 04.09.1945.I believe the Gt,Gt Grandfather was Robert McKeag ,he was a Farmer and on the Griffith Valuation was in Grangee in 1863,Since he did not appear on the 1901 census I take it it could be him who died  in 1893 aged 72 years according to the official records .I will have to see if I can get more info before I check another graveyard. Thanks again for all your time and effort

Thank you .My mistake there are at least 23 McKeag Graves at Templepatrick Graveyard Miller Hill Donaghadee Road.I remember passing it ,seems odd with no Church a bit like the Killaney Graveyard near Ballynahinch ?I wonder why there is no mention of Roberts wife or who she was or  where she is buried. It looks as if James was living at No 16 in Grangee on the 1911 census.his  wife is called Susanna unfortunately that does not show up on the Emerald Ancestors Marriages for 1882 only a James marrying a Annie DUNBAR.At the moment I have Billys father and grandfather buried at Carrowdore C of I ,his Gt grandfather at Ballyblack Presbyterian and now possibly the Gt,Gt Grandfather at Templepatrick Graveyard.Thank you once again for all your help "Brilliant".I have photo's of the McKeag graves in those two churches if anyone would like a copy.?

Templepatrick Graveyard is on the shore side of the Millisle to Donaghadee road.
The old church has disappeared. Donaghadee Parish Church records still exist from 1771

Lena,
Thank you once again for the marvelous selection of information on the McKeag families from around the Carrowdore area.I wonder why James and Susanna McKeag have themselves down as having NO children born alive or living on the 1911 census when on the 1901 census they have Eliza aged 17 years as their daughter.Thank you for the info on the Dunbar grave which has pin pointed where Susanna was finally laid to rest.I still cannot find a Marriage for them ? I will have to go through all the info you sent today and see if I can make any connections.Unfortunately the LDS FHS at the Holywood Road has been closed since the 17th November so I have not been able to get info from their Birth Certificates 1900-1913 or 1864-1880 I have everything typed up ready to complete when the LDS open again on the 9th Jan 2013.I have been down the PRO twice recently but the Carrowdore records seem to have been withdrawn.
Well Thanks again Lena.

Lena,
What records would you suggest I check for McKeag Births from about 1840-1860
since the Carrowdore records do not seem available at the PRO I have checked the Ballyblack and Ballyfrenis. I suspect that James born abt 1845, Robert born abt 1851, and John born abt 1860 are brothers with the same father Robert born about 1821.

Regards

Merry Christmas

Lena,
Thank you very much for all your help.May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New year .

I'M SORRY I CAN'T HELP YOU ANY MORE. I WAS GOING TO SUGGEST BALLYBLACK AS THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH FOR CARROWDORE BUT YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN THERE.

I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE RECORDS ARE UNLESS IN THE CHURCH OR SOMEONES HOUSE.

BEST WISHES FOR 2013 AND I HOPE WE FIND NEW THINGS IN OUR GENEALOGY.

REGARDS LENA

I was interested to read about john mcKeag.  I wonder if he is any relation to my Mckeag family.  My great grandfather was Robert McKeag born in 1847 to Robert McKeag a labourer.  He married Elizabeth Dixon in 1869 at the Parish Church in Comber, the only other information I have been able to glean about Robert senior is that in 19/10/1849 a Robert Mckeage married an Elizabeth Martin at the Comber First Presbyterian Church and leased a small house nad yard from Castle Street Comber (of course this may not be the right one as there was a Robert McKaig leasing a property in Mill Road)
