DYS464 is a multi-copy marker (that is, there are multiple copies of this same STR located within the Y-Chromosome). Besides the "regular" mutations to each STR marker (ie up or down), multi-copy markers also can mutate in a different way, where 1 copy of the marker overwrites another copy (called a RecLoH). In addition, the number of DYS464 markers a person has can change as another type of mutation (where a whole STR marker is either deleted or copied sometimes called an In/Del).
Given the fact all 4 of your DYS markers are 11, it is almost certain this was either a RecLoH or a deletion. There is a special test, 464x, which can better tell you which of these events occurred.
I thought the test was only for R1b-U106 people as this occurs 99% for them.
Does this 464 mutate in only one direction i.e up or down? and does it have any indication of age of marker?
