I am searching for information about my 4th gr. grandmother, Margaret "Peggy" Witherspoon. I think that she may have been the daughter of a John Witherspoon. She married John West in 1796 in Wilkes County, NC. Margaret "Peggy" was born in 1760 in Wilkes Co. John West was born about 1760 in Orange Co., NC. They moved to South Carolina sometime before their first child was born. Margaret "Peggy" returned to Wilkes County with her 3 young children after her husband's death in SC. She was listed in the 1810 census as living in Wilkes County with these 3 children. I am descended from their son, John Balus West. Thanks for any information. Charlotte West Dade,
