THIS IS A JOINT EFFORT BY MARY BECKER, MAISIE EGGER & MYSELF TO DOCUMENT ALL CLINTS FROM SCOTLAND, IRELAND, ENGLAND USA & CANADA.

Henry Clint, Dates: 1801 - 1825, Occupation: Vintner Food/Drink (m/s), Gender: male: Address: Dumfries. Source Date: 1800
Source: Subscribed to The Works of Robert Burns; with an account of his life, and a criticism on his writings. To which are prefixed, some observations on the character and condition of the Scottish Peasantry. Vol. I., 1800
AVAILABLE AT GOOGLE BOOKS

Henry Clint who subscribed to the work, may have been the father, or even grandfather of the other 3 Clint males: William, Alexander and John, who were born shortly after 1800. If he was their grandfather, he may have been born more than 40 years before their birth, which would be before 1760.

*[Note: Island of Heston is a small coastal island in the Solway Firth, southwest of Scotland. Hestan Island lies at the mouth of Auchencairn Bay in the region of Dumfries and Galloway in the former county of Kirkcudbrightshire. A lighthouse was built on the eastern side of the island by Alan Steveneson in 1850....In the 18th century the island was used as a centre of smuggling activity, with goods being stored in caves in the south west of the island where there was reputed to have been shelves cut into rock. Samuel Rutherford Croickett made a great play with this in his novel ‘The Raiders.’]

INFORMATION FROM MAISIE EGGER
Sarah Clint, domestic servant in the hotel owned by Mr. and Mrs. Payne.  They "put on" her wedding to Alexander McAdam, who was a blacksmith.  I still have the invitation to Peter Clint, her brother (and my grandfather).  When Alexander McAdam died, the story goes that he was so popular he had the biggest funeral in Castle Douglas.
