Right now we have DNA results that show two different families of Springfield's. The first is Thomas Springfield with his brother's Anson and Benjamin Springfield, all were born in North Carolina. Their mother was Elizabeth unknown surname, and she was married to an unknown Mr. Springfield and then assumed to be widowed and married a Mr. Benjamin Rush.
The second family is that of Captian Thomas Springfield married to Dicey Langston, a Revolutionary War Heroine. They had 22 children. There is some assumption that Captain Thomas Springfield was the son of Proffesor Thomas Springfield, who hung himself in his school house in Granville co, North Carolina. But we have no solid proof of that yet.  -Sarah Springfield Perry
