I just ordered the SNP Z253, so I want to know my chances of being positive or negative! :-)

As the modal z253 looks identical to the L21 modal, everyone can be Z253 (those L21 *)

In looking all Z253 tested of members of the dna project R-L21,
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/R-L21/default.aspx?section=ysnp

I found 51 positive and 101 negative!
A third of tested, are positive: it becomes a very large haplogroup!

Do I made a mistake in the accounts or the results are not representative?
.. Or is it just?

Yes, Z253 appears to be pretty big, and the odds seem better than average of a positive result on that one.

I'll order it myself, when I get the chance.

I worked a simple count of all top five new root subclades on Yahoo group and was working to figure out the newest SNP DF41 estimated percentage. Z53 is 2nd if you considered DF23 and L513 are tied for 1st. These number include each's associated Variety Cluster both L21* and predicted all from MikeW's spreadsheet.

DF23 - All
1011 17.9%

L513 - All
994  17.6%

Z253 - All
668  11.8%

DF21 - All
452  8.0%

Z255 - All
268  4.7%

I am negative...

MtDNA could still send the result by e-mail even when it is negative, again, I do not know how to find my SNP results on their site.
I saw my result on R-L21 dna project !!!

Have you tested for DF23?  I find it amazing how many French and British-Norman-French L21* have come up DF23 already among the group of L21* redefined as DF23* recently.  I dont know the probability but it does seem to me that the French connection is strong given the lack of French testing.

You can see your results by going to your "myFTDNA" pages and clicking on "Haplotree" underneath the heading "Y-DNA" at the top of the page (hold the cursor over "Y-DNA", then move down and click on "Haplotree"). Your SNP test results will appear near the top of the page, under "Haplogroup Info".

Df23 seems to have the value for dys 481 = 24 as M222.
As I have the modal value of L21 on this marker str (22), I do not think i am Df23 +..

Yes, I noticed this a couple of months ago. High 481 values indicate a stronger chance of being DF23.  You can see this is the DF23* Wales SW England Cluster which has a high interclade TMRCA with M222. When you look at all the DF23* folks, DF23's ancestral haplotype could be pretty much the same as L21's with the exception of 481.

Z253 and DF23 on the other hand, are even harder to pin down.  Their ancestral haplotypes could easily be L21's.
