Here is a project that might be worth following in hopes of finding more R1b aDNA.

Thanks.  However, I believe the study has been published:

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/oa.1213/abstract;jsessionid=6D5A9C7F5E5985873F29BBB49FCB3DD4.d01t03

I am a bit familiar with the archaeologist, Dr. Timothy Matney, of the U. of Akron.  As he is leading a dig at the Assyrian city of Tushan, in Diyarbakır Province, in what is today southeast Turkey.

From the project site:

Quote
Ziyaret Tepe was occupied nearly continuously for 2400 years starting in the Early Bronze Age (c. 3000 BC). For most of this time, Ziyaret Tepe was a modest village situated in the fertile Tigris floodplain. During the Iron Age (c. 882-610BC), however, Ziyaret Tepe became an important urban center on the northern periphery of the Assyrian Empire, when it was known as Tushhan.

It would be terrific to get some aDNA from the site.

Thanks.  After looking around their site, it looks like they were only testing for mtdna at Titris Hoyuk.
