U5, 150T and longevity?

U5 and 150T polymorphism seems to be associated with longevity.

Longevity runs in my maternal line and I have a U5a1a Haplogroup.

Do you have 150T mutation?

You need to do HVR2 test. HVR1 doesn't detect this mutation.

I read that as well.

I too am U5 (U5b2) and have 150T.  Longevity is true on my mtdna side for sure.  My grandmother lived to just a few weeks shy of 99.  Her maternal aunts lived into their 90's as well.

I have the 150T

Most women in my family have led long lives.  Grandma was 88 when she passed and all of her sister were the same or older.  Coincidently my grandmother was a vegetarian, wouldn't eat meat.

the study you referenced also says this so it's sort of confusing?

"Our data thus showed that 150T is associated with longevity in subhaplogroups J2, D5 and M7b that harbour 10398G and 489C, but not in subhaplogroups T2, U5 and N9a that lack the latter two polymorphisms. The association between a combination of these three mtDNA variants and longevity provides the first epidemiological support for the assumption that the pathogenic or adaptive nature of a variant is influenced by interactions with other loci in mtDNA.19"

It would be interesting an FGS: you could be an U5b*, but it needs the coding region.
