ISOGG, Atlanta Area, 2011 Meeting

Genealogy Society of Cobb County (GSCC) will host the Atlanta Area chapter of the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG) meeting on October 29, 2011 at the Cobb County Main Library at 266 Roswell Street, Marietta GA 30060.  Registration begins at 1:00 pm and the meeting will run from 1:30 to 4:30.   GSCC will provide refreshments.  This is a great opportunity to meet other genealogists who are using DNA in their research.

Peter Roberts will present "Using Genetics to Help Your Genealogy", followed by Terry Barton speaking on “I’ve Been yDNA-Tested, Now What?”.

The two presentations will be followed by a Panel Discussion – where Peter, Terry and Josh Taylor will answer questions provided in advance and from the floor.  You can submit your dna-related question in advance to terry@worldfamilies.net

Peter Roberts is the past Coordinator of the Atlanta Area ISOGG chapter and speaks regularly on the use of DNA for genealogical research.  He administers the Roberts and Sasser Surname DNA Projects and is particularly well-known for his pioneering work with the Bahamas DNA Project.

Terry Barton is Atlanta Area Coordinator for ISOGG and Past President of GSCC.  He speaks regularly on the use of DNA for genealogical research and administers numerous surname projects, including the Barton DNA Project. His company, WorldFamilies.net provides an array of services to the genetic genealogy community.

Josh Taylor is a Director for GSCC and administrator for the Taylor and Cooper Surname DNA Projects.

The meeting is free and open to all.  "Registration" is to give folks a chance to meet, mingle and join ISOGG - which is also free.
